When Should You Disavow Links?
Disavowing links is one of the more tedious parts of maintaining SEO. In fact, it often goes ignored by many companies and brands until it causes major damage to their rankings or reputation. So, when should you disavow links?
It is good to get into the practice of disavowing links a few times a year. Even when you or your team is aware of their link building efforts, toxic and malicious links are still inevitable. Therefore, every few months, it is generally recommended to use a tool to identify low authority and toxic links to your website. Some of these may be okay. Personal blogs often have low authority, but are not malicious.
However, if it is from a toxic, malicious, or website you do not want to be associated with, you can disavow the link so that it does not affect your rankings or SEO. In some cases, you may be able to get it removed from the website altogether. Usually, disavowment is done by submitting a file straight to Google.
